‘The Addams Family – Young @ Part’
City Academy students demonstrated their performing, creative and technical talents at The Birmingham Repertory Theatre last week. Audiences were scared and amused in equal measure as the cast of nearly 50 students brought such well known characters/caricatures to life as Gomez, Morticia, Lurch, Pugsley, Wednesday and Uncle Fester to life in ‘The Addams Family – Young @ Part’.
Performers and technical crew alike relished the surrounds of a professional theatre to showcase their talents in ‘The Door’. The venue was full on both Wednesday and Thursday nights and the raked seating ensured that all audience members enjoyed a premium view of the drama.
The director Miss Houlder and her team brought a modern twist to a familiar story of ‘puppy love’ as references to Donald Trump and Birmingham City FC were sprinkled throughout the script.
The overall effect was a memorable two nights that all who were there relished. City Academy is really grateful to Birmingham Rep for enabling the use of ‘The Door’ and we look forward to further partnership work to bring drama to life for City Academy and its community.
